Recorded live in front of a capacity crowd in Tralee's Siamsa Tíre on 19th October 2006 when shaz performed special guest duties for Jack L. The CD contains 8 original tracks and shows Shaz in solo mode, accompanied only by her trusty Gibson J45. Shaz' live performances have long been captivating audiences and each gig sees her winning fans over with her relaxed style and good-humoured between song chat. This bootleg confirms the attraction she holds for a modern audience hungry for diversity. Shaz was delighted to perform at The Spirit of Christmas Gala fundraiser for Barnardos in the State Apartments in Dublin Castle in December. She wrote a new song especially for the occasion Hope for Christmas. The event made a record breaking €112,000 for the charity. Shaz is the first solo artist to be added to the line up of Music Ireland 2006 at the RDS on November 25th. Shaz will be performing her first gig in London on Wed 13th dec, at the Bedford. Following on the success of her performance in Tralee, Jack L. has asked shaz back for a couple of gigs in December. Check out the gigs page for details. Shaz will be performing with Frances Black and Mary Coughlan at the "Friends of the Rutland" benefit concert in The Civic Theatre, 27th November. The following night Shaz and Annette Buckley will co-headline at the Clonmel Songwriter Festival. Donal Lunny heard Shaz's song 'The Jericho Mile' and invited her to perform at his 'Donal Lunny and Friends Remember Palestine' a fundraiser in the Olympia Theatre Monday 25th September. shaz OYE cancels planned release of Abbeylara inspired song As a result of the unintentional clash with the publication of the Barr Tribunal report; shaz OYE today announced the cancellation of her planned release 'Easy off the Trigger', scheduled to be the first single from her album 'Truth according to shaz OYE'. shaz OYE said, "The siege at Abbeylara and subsequent shooting of John Carthy, inspired 'Easy off the Trigger'. When I planned the single release I was unaware of the publication date of the Barr Tribunal report and never intended to coincide with it. As a writer I hope that my songs resonate with an audience, provoke thought and debate, whilst also entertaining them; I have no desire to rake over the raw emotions of the Carthy family or to capitalise on their pain in any way. My thoughts about the police shooting of John Carthy are already a matter of public record. As I wrote in the album's sleeve notes at the time of its release; Many questions remain unanswered about the events surrounding the fatal shooting of John Carthy at Abbeylara, Co Longford on 20th April 2000, but what is certain is that John Carthy is dead. Everything he ever had, everyone he ever loved and everything he was ever going to be were taken from him that day. That cannot be undone, nor can the desolation wrought upon families or the gradual unravelling of the social fabric of our society by the ever increasing number of violent deaths through gun related crimes. Having Previously won a gold award from the Irish Professional Photographer’s Association, he has now won the IPPA Royal & Sun Alliance National Photographic Award 2006 for Best Commercial Photography. The album Cover shot was one of 4 photos that made up his portfolio. Mick is on a roll at the minute having just been award Fellowship of the IPPA. The highest honor in Irish photography.
